At the age of 19, she published her first debut single Here. The song was widely acclaimed by critics as well as the public. It reached number 19 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the most memorable songs of 2015. That same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track is special due to her interview with Rap-Up that she conducted, many of people who listened to her music could connect to her experiences of finding love for themselves, as well as doubting herself. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate messages about mental health love and self-love into her songs. The music she sings is reflective of her personal struggle with mental illness and insomnia. Reuters said that she described the album "half chaotic, but half done". The growth of her career was helped through therapy. She also encourages her fellow singers, if needed, to ask for help. Alessia Cara is a Canadian artist who was born the 11th of July, 1996 to parents who are of Italian heritage. Her parents gifted her with an instrument when she was 10 and this brought her to music. In 2013, she covered the songs she loved for YouTube, a popular platform for media. The goal was to prove that she had the talent and confidence to become an artist. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather was able to get her attention by a label known as EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record tracks.
