Taylor Russell McKenzie was born on the 18th of July 1994 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was raised in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. [1][2(two) Russell was born to the black father and white mother, is biracial, and was raised mostly on her mother's family. She stated that her skin color was the primary reason she felt rejected by her peers as an infant. They struggled financially. They were constantly on the move and relocated 16 times in an attempt to support her father's work. Russell shared that despite all the struggles they faced, there was always an possibility to reinvent and develop something new. Russell's parents struggled financially and she was constantly on the move. Russell was 18 when she started her first acting class. She used the money she earned from work to purchase a car and drove to Los Angeles to audition. Once her money was gone and she returned home, she went back to work, until she made enough money to audition again. It went on for four consecutive years, until she finally secured her first major television role.
